COLETTE & LOLA | CAKES & DREAMS

Isamaya Group which is one of the successful Food & Beverage Company in Indonesia has created new concept called "COLETTE & LOLA".

COLETTE & LOLA has became "hot topic" for most of teenagers in Jakarta in this past several months. They well known for their cakes creation . .

At first, I have trouble to find the place since I'm not living in this city. But, My friend and I can spot this cakes shop in the end (We pass this cakes shop several times without realizing it) :D

I Think, the interior design is quite unique and creative. .

My friend and I order some of their cakes : Rainbow, Little Black Bird, Call Me Panda and You See Green.
Well . .when I visit this shop, it is full of people although in the mid of weekdays.
(*correction: Not full of people, instead full of teenage girls who come in groups, order 1-2 cakes and takes the photos with their cellphone in countless time hahahaha)

I recommend their Panda and See Green for those who loves Dark Chocolate Mouse and Green Tea.

Overall: Their taste is Good enough. The Idea of creation and texture is quite similar with Canele Patisserie - Singapore

  • About 8 -10pcs of Oreo
  • 250ml of Plain Thick Yogurt

  • 1/2tbsp of Gelatine
  • 1/2 of lime juice
  • About 1tbsp of Margarine or Butter
Method:
  1. Blend the oreos cookies in the food processor with the melted margarine, divide into the cup and let it cool in the fridge.
  2. Blend the strawberry, lime juice, gelatine, 3-4tbsp of cold water and sugar in the food processor.
  3. Pour the strawberry puree slowly and mix well with the yogurt until you get the correct consistency and taste that you like (don't make it to watery or the yogurt mixture will not set)
  4. Make a jelly as the suggestion serving in the pack (I reduce the water for about 1/3 cup from the suggestion to make the texture of jelly a little bit hard) and let it cool.
  5. Pour the jelly in top of strawberry mixture and put it in the fridge until set.

All about Indonesian Traditional Foods

This post is made especially for whoever you are that need information about foods in Indonesia.
There are many kinds of delicious foods in Indonesia :

To start, one of Indonesian famous dessert and you can find it easy:

Es Cendol & Kacang Merah (Left Pict) is mixed ingredients from Red Bean, Cendol and Black Jelly.
This Dessert use Brown Sugar and Coconut Milk as their base . . the taste is really good and fresh!

Es Campur (Right Pict) is made from similar like Es Cendol & Kacang Merah, however they use shave ice and syrup as base. . so you can imagine, the sweetness, softy and cool combine together! Heaven! haha

Next, one of the famous chicken dishes that others country may have, but trust me! it taste different!

Fried Chicken (Left Pict) : In most places,  they marinated with Indonesian Traditional Herbs (Turmeric, ginger etc).
Grilled Chicken (Right Pict) : If you can find a correct spot, you will find a chicken that is grilled with Charcoal!! you can smell it in your chicken! It's really different! Some of restaurants use chilli, sweet soy sauce or honey for marinated and some of them use herbs.

Satay Padang (Left Pict) is one of the traditional foods from Padang City, however you can find it in most of big cities. . it is basically beef or chicken grilled / skewered and use peanut sauce with some herbs. .
Next, Pindang Patin (Right Pict) if you like something sour and a little bit spicy.  . this is the One! Pindang is their actual dish name and Patin is kind of fish, some of restaurants provide beef, squid and others to change the fish if you don't like it :D

Move on to our next culinary, you can find it easily in most of cities in Indonesia at night. . We called it "Martabak Manis" the taste is similar with pancake. For the first, they only have one base: Vanilla / Plain, and they will put different topings in it (Peanut, Cheese, Srikaya, Chocolate Sauce, etc). Now, there are many varieties of base, like photo below: (Mocca Flavour, Pandan Flavour and Chocolate Flavour)

Next, I personally think that it is really hard to find following dishes in Big Cities (Mall or Plaza) because it is really traditional. . (Laksa, Burgo and Laksan)

These 3 dishes has similar taste, the differences are in their shape of filling and soup.
For Laksa (Left Pict) : Longer Rice Vermicelli and they curry or asam as in their soup. .
Burgo (Mid Pict) : Layer of thin rice vermicelli and they use coconut milk as their soup.
For the last, Laksan (Right Pict) : Thick Rice Vermicelli with Curry + Coconut milk as their soup . .

Mie Aceh (Left Pict): If you are really like spicy and noodle, this is a must try dish! as their name from Aceh City . . They create a dish that is rich of herbs and spices!

Gado - Gado (Right Pict): I personally this dish as Indonesian Salad! The differences between western salad and this in their sauce. . usually western people only use olive oil or mayo in their salad, on the other hand Indonesian people use mixed of peanuts. Gado - Gado is combination of some vegetables, mixed with peanuts sauce.

End for now. . I'll add more if I have time to taste and take a pict of it ^.^

For you who want to give suggestion and help about foods that I haven't mention in this post is very welcome!!

This time, I have a chance to taste it on Nasi Candra restaurant.

Sam & Jolly - Jakarta

Sour Sally is a well known cafe with their yogurt, especially in Indonesia and Singapore. Now, they open a new restaurant that called "Sam & Jolly"

Sam & Jolly is a unique restaurant that use yogurt as their trademark in foods. .

This time, I have a chance to taste from their branch in Central Park Mall - Jakarta

I order main course platter to taste most of their dishes in a small portions

Unfortunately ,  I don't think that their food platter is really that good. All of the dishes in the plate has a similar taste. It is because , they pour the sauce all over the plate !!! (see pict above). More over, I personally think that their tofu that mixed with shred chicken and wrapped in noodle is bland @_@
Their presentation also not as good as their picture in menu list.

After that, I moved to the desserts that they recommended which is Lava Mountain with adFUNture.
The ice cream suppose to be a vanilla, however they said the vanilla already sold out (as I know, the store itself is open from 11AM and I arrived at 12PM. How come the Vanilla sold out while no customer in this restaurants?).
Ok, back to the desserts! They replace Vanilla with Raspberry ice cream yogurts (See pict below).  Shortly I like the ice cream, garnish and of course their choco lava melt perfectly while I cut it off :D

Next dessert that I personally choose because their looks in menu : Green Tea Lova!

I love everything that made from or has a green tea scenes! This dessert use Green Tea Yogurt Ice Cream and tiramisu with butter cookies on top. They also use passion fruit sauce, strawberry and nuts to make presentation looks really good. .

Overall, I recommended most of their desserts! Not only looks good but also taste really good!
However since the portion is big enough, I'm full only eating their desserts hahaha

Stalacities (Greek Cuisine)

When I was in Melbourne, I found Stalacities in CBD with their long queque.
I'm wondering what makes this restaurants has a long queque, so I decide to join and wait for the table :D

After waiting for about 15minutes in queque and chat with some customers, they said it is one of the famous restaurants in Melbourne CBD! Well, I consider my self as a lucky person because I found this restaurants accidentaly haha

Shortly, I get hint from several people in there about what should I order!

Firstly,

I choose Mixed Girro Platter which consists of marinated spring lamb and chicken from the spit.

Finished the main course in no time and I move to my favourite parts in eating = desserts!!! I always choose platter desserts if the restaurants provide it because I can taste several desserts at once with small portion.

The desserts that I ordered are baklava, galaktoboureko and creme caramel. served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! Yum . . .

Galaktoboureko is really tasty and smooth. . I like the custard texture in this dessert !
Baklava is also really good with layers full of walnut and honey. . The only problem that all of this desserts suppose to eat by 3-4 people and I eat by myself! So, I had more than enough sweet taste at that day >.<
